Why I create.

The creative process enables me to meditate on and learn from natural systems as I re-interpret them. These meditations provide insights into processes and organizational strategies that emphasize relationships. This knowledge transforms into a series of metaphors that help me better understand who I am, where I come from, and where I want to go. I apply these lessons to my teaching and community arts practice through biomimicry, an application of natural processes in learning, teaching, and community organizing. I hope to offer viewers many paths to engage with nature’s languages while cultivating imagination.

Imagine.

The constant iteration, evolution, expansion, overlapping, and layering of systems in the natural world captivates my imagination. Using drawing, collage, and painting, I emphasize its complexity to inspire creative dreams; the building of worlds that push beyond structures which hold our imagination captive. These works share nature’s stories and blueprints for positive futures that support collective growth.
